Milarepa. A renowned meditation master recounts the story and songs of achievement of Tibet’s best-known and best-loved religious figure – and reveals how they relate to our daily lives.

He went from being the worst and most evil sorcerer to a devout and ascetic Buddhist practitioner to a fully enlightened being, all in the same lifetime. The story of Milarepa (1040-1123) is a tale of an extreme and powerful transformation that we might think has no direct application to our less dramatic lives – but Chögyam Trungpa shows us otherwise.

This collection of teachings from the life and songs of the great poet and master of Tibetan Buddhism reveals how Milarepa’s difficulties can be a source of guidance and inspiration to anyone.  His troubles, his awakening, and the teachings of his exceptional songs provide precious wisdom to all practitioners and show what diligent and devout practice can achieve.

CHÖGYAM TRUNGPA (1940-1987) – meditation master, teacher, and artist – founder of Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado; the Shambhala training program; and the international association of meditation centres known as Shambhala. He is the author of several books including Shambhala: Sacred Path of the Warrior, and Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism.

JUDITH L. LIEF is a senior teacher in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage and a long-time editor of the works of Chögyam Trungpa.
