Lapis Lazuli Double Vajra Wrist Mala 8mm with white metal separators. The beads are 8mm each. The two beads on the back are 6mm each. 16 beads, excluding the spacer beads. Handmade in Nepal.
Lapis lazuli is one of the oldest opaque gemstones in history – over 6,500 years old! This deep blue stone includes tiny flecks of mica, like a night sky full of stars. Its best-known source is found deep in the mountains of modern Afghanistan.
The name of this two-part stone comes from two different cultures: lapis is a Latin word meaning “stone”, while lazuli comes from the Persian word lazhuward, meaning “blue”. It is neither an element nor a mineral – it is a rock containing multiple minerals: lazurite, diopside, calcite, pyrite and more.
Looking after your mala:
- Please do not wash your mala or wear it while bathing or sleeping, as this can weaken the mala’s thread.
- To clean your mala: gently wipe the beads with a damp cloth and place in moonlight or sunlight to dry.
- When not in use, store your mala in a Mala Bag.
