High Quality Copper Mandala Set 12cm. The Mandala is a representation of the universe. Placed on the temple altar as an offering of the universe to the Buddhas, the three rings are constructed of rice, scattered with precious stones.
This mandala set is handmade by Tibetan artists near Kopan Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal. This mandala set is of high quality and is used in Tibetan ritual ceremonies. The fine carving with each detailed work makes this mandala set a very unique set.
The fine copper carving support represents the mythical centre of the universe. Each layer is filled with offerings until the multi-layered mandala is filled with coins, beads, jewellery or rice. The ‘universe’ is then offered above the head to show that it would give its entire existence to help others achieve enlightenment. Used by Tibetan Buddhist practice as part of the daily preliminaries to meditation, the mandala represents the naturally balanced nature of the outer world and inner mind.
