What is Bhumpa?
The Bhumpa, or Ritual Vessel, is an important ceremonial item used to hold consecrated water that has been blessed by the Guru. Consecrated water is believed to remove negativity and drive away evil spirits, and is sprinkled or poured to purify people, places, or objects. Bhumpas are widely used by Gurus in many types of ceremonies, from elaborate purification rituals for new houses, monuments, and holy places, to simple blessings for disciples intended to purify and protect them from harmful forces. The bhumpas may also be used by practitioners to make water offerings; in these cases, the water is regarded as pure nectar.
