Motivated by the purest compassion, the Gyalwang Karmapas have been reincarnating continuously since the eleventh century. The present sixteenth reincarnation, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, was born in Eastern Tibet in 1985. Seven years later, he was recognised by a prediction letter and taken to Tsurphu Monastery, the throne of the Karmapas in Tibet. Here he received traditional education in practice and philosophy, and at the turn of the millennium, he travelled through the Himalayas to India where he currently lives. Known for his clear and direct teaching style, the young Karmapa radiates the radiance of his tradition. Travelling the Path of Compassion, his commentary to the Thirty-seven Bodhisattva Practices, connects this excellent text with our daily lives and deepest aspirations.
